A Southern Airways flight departing from Washington Dulles Airport to Lancaster PA was forced to make an emergency landing onto Loudon County Park Way in Virginia. The route was operated by a Cessna 208 Caravan. These planes operate use a front propeller. According to early reports the plane encountered issues right after take off. Earlier during the day the DC area experienced a lot of snow, but no indication that the weather played any role in this incident. Pictures show that the propellers on the plane were significantly damaged but no passengers were hurt. Thankfully everyone from this incident made it out safely. Its not everyday you see a plane make an emergency landing onto a road right next to the airport. This seems to indicate that the issue the pilots encountered was significant enough that the pilot chose to land on the road rather than go back to the airport. Now a full investigation into the incident will take place, until we know all the facts we can just speculate as to what happened!
