IHG will finally join Hilton and Marriott with a presence in New Caledonia. While they have a few properties in the pipeline the one scheduled to open the earliest is the Intercontinental Lifou Wadra Bay Resort. The hotel is going to have 50 rooms including some bungalows and villas. This resort is located on the island of Lifou about an hour flight north from the capital Noumea.

Im excited to see IHG building up a presence in the Asia/Oceania region. Marriott has long dominated the resort scene in New Caledonia with the Le Meridian’s and Sheraton it inherited from Starwood. But these properties are aging and seem to be due for a renovation. The pictures of the new Intercontinental look stunning. Im hoping to make a trip to this hotel once it opens in late March 2024.
